The Kiwanis Club of Anniston meets every Thursday at 12:30 on the third floor of the newly refurbished Caldwell Building at the corner of 10th and Noble Streets in downtown Anniston.

The Kiwanis Club of Anniston was chartered August 20, 1920, one of the oldest clubs in the nation. For over 78 years this club has continued to have a very strong and vital presence in our community.

In 1998, once again the Anniston club clothed over 100 children for Back to School, we donated $2,000 to Kiwanis International to help eradicate the world's number one preventable cause of mental retardation, we provided 2 college tuition scholarships, we sponsored one child at our local Cerebral Palsy Development Center, we kept Lagarde Park clean, and we donated over $5,000 to local non-profit agencies for their work with young children.

Our new project for '97-'98 was weekly tutoring at one of our local public schools, Norwood Elementary. 25% of our total membership dedicated one hour EACH week during the school year to help a child improve his reading or math skills. In addition to our regular tutors, we had a long list of substitutes.
